The Hispanic Federation is one of the largest non-profit organizations in the US working to empower and advance the Latino community. HF rests on three crucial pillars: membership services, advocacy services and community assistance programs. Through these foundations, the Hispanic Federation improves the lives of Hispanic children and families nationally.

Since 1990, this organization has worked in the areas of educationhealthimmigrationcivic engagementeconomic empowerment, & the environment with the goal of enriching and strengthening the Latino community.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, the Hispanic Federation founded, UNIDOS, a project with the specific goal of disaster relief for Puerto Rico. This project has raised money and coordinated volunteer efforts and donations in order to meet both the short and long-term relief needs of the island. We choose this organization as our fundraising cause because of the clear and direct effect they have had on Puerto Rico.

Their efforts have taken the form of water, the delivery of medical supplies, solar lamps, mosquito nets and even water filtration systems. UNIDOS is clearly meeting the immediate needs of many Puerto Rican citizens, who have been living in the dark and without food or water for months.
